Can I monitor the mic emulations while recording without a UAD interface?
yes
beautiful restoration. it would be pricey, but getting some NOS tubes in there would be worth it
They are both very similar. The new one has a bit of extra detail in the upper treble but I don't mind.
Having major noise issues with my M149. Sounds like chaotic thunder, non-stop. Any advice???
How do you rate this against Boss SY-1 ??? Not sure the boss has a midi to lock it to an external beat?
Thanks for this great video!
wow the 102 sounds really really great
Thank you for the great video VK! 💙
There was a certain magic in the vintage U67 that the reissue didn't have, a saturation and warmth that it put in the sound captured. The U67 reissue sounded modern and cleaner.
Great vocal performance, but the mic is just not good for vocals. Too much clarity is sacrificed. It's great for smoothing something like a violin or trumpet, but it's seldom the case that vocals need to be smoothed in the same way. Vocals should keep their granularity, detail, and presence typically. Even if you are singing in a 'vintage' style and you want your vocals to sound warm. They still need to cut through, not be smoothed out.
Is recommendable for mastering or just mixing?
Most definitely! There's also the new Carnaby HE2, which is a 19" inch rackmount stereo version of the Carnaby 500. Perfect for mixing and mastering.
that sounds GODLY
Amazing video. Very inspiring. Thank you! I do hybrid tape/digital solutions all the time too! :-) I gotta come visit you.
Thanks very good video ! IMHO, the 441 seems to have a bump around 400-600hz and sounds warmer but mudier. Seems that you have more info with the 441 but it needs EQ to get rid of that mud. The 441 sounds thinner. Both are sounding very natural.
My dad's a construction worker with 'golden hands', as everyone always tells me. He's a carpenter officially, but he does everything else as well, like painting, laying bricks... EVERYTHING!! I'm a guitar player officialy, but I also sing, play the bass, keyboards, a bit of drums; etc and I'd like to compare something my father once told me to this. He said: "I've got way better equipment at my disposal at work, but at home, I just use cheap stuff from our local mall (LOL). It takes me a bit longer to get stuff done, but at least I get stuff done in the end using cheap equipment. If you dó need the expensive stuff we use at work, you're not that much of a construction worker." LOL He said something like that 10 years ago. That's all I'm gonna say and hey... the Warm stuff isn't even cheap, apart from the WA-47Jr. Just EXCELLENT mics!
Great job but how about wooly bully watch it now 😮
Very nice piece of gear. Video is well done.
Love that drummer!
Thankful to see this in action finally!!!! I may be investing in one. The drums fat and that bass is nassssssstyyyyyyy I mean all these demos sound amazing!!!!
This is a blast from the past, Eva is so elegant I just adore her and her company <3
What a sound!!
Good on bass. Or maybe that’s like the best bass ever? The UDO Super 6 sounds nice. No for drums vocals and guitars.
Sounds amazing
This is a great preamp I bought mine in January..... not just great on guitars but synths...
Does it ever make you wish it had transformers? Or the vibe is analog enough?
are you using load boxes between the keys and preamp?
3:59 sound demo full mix
That vintage Neumann sure sounds good on the drums. I can hear more low-mids. All the modern mikes including Neumann seem a tad brighter with a little less heft in the 350hz ranger
Hey, just wondering if the OPT1A is still with you and you are willing to sell. I’m on the hunt for one
Great video! Thanks! Do you drive the gains just to demonstrate the saturation? You then reset them to unity so do you control the gain staging from the DAW send?
You guys at Vintage King rock. I always like your videos. Thank you for this one 🙏
Eu ainda vou ter um desses
Warm and mello. Nice. ☮️
I own a Warm Audio WA-251 and people are often surprised how good it is, not harsh sounding at all - great value for the money!
How did you record drums? It's a single channel hardware. I mean how many mics?
Kick and snare are going through two seperate Newtons, and the overhead mic is going through a Rupert Neve 5211.
Used the sd1 with PREXENTS #prexents
MINT!!!! WHAT A RECORDING.
Tone for days!!
Great demo
Liked the Upton quite a lot!
Amazing comparison shootout! Thank you so much for putting this together!
great video, gotta love universal audio.. i noticed you have many equipment stored lying in the back, i was wondering if you don't have any room left i could store some of your equipment in my bedroom.. i'll take good care of them 😂
My dream 💭
Rockin 💕💢👌👌
Just ordered these. Been pretty pumped to try them!
I've seen other videos of this micro Mellotron , it has an SD card . What is the Sd card for ? Thank you so much for your informations, Patrick from Italy
There was an SD card slot on the Rev 1 version of the Mellotron Micro, but that's not the case with the Rev 2 aka current version. This was for adding more sounds.
@@vintagekingproaudio thank you so much . All my best to you .
OMG, finally an SG. Tired of all those thin and quacky strats everywhere in every demo of this pedal! Thank you so much, finally an SG! 🙌
Fully agree
Good demomstration, thanks
We love our Matriarch. It is an incredibly powerful analog studio synth for sound design. Please have a look and listen: ruclips.net/video/Bkrx_958zT8/видео.htmlsi=rR2FRlrKd7IUqF_Y
Das hat mich aus meinen Socken gehauen...fantastisch, unglaublich...super..
Interesting that the console is so venerated because those first few Beatles albums sounded like cr*p. The songs were great, and the performances spirited (if a bit primitive), but the actual sound of the recordings - certainly as released to the world in general - was really poor. It wasn't until around Revolver that the records started *sounding* really good.
To get Beatles sound (or as close as possible, considering at Abbey Road they only used mono 660 limiters), the No. 2 time constant is all that should be used, as this was the only setting ever used by Geoff Emerick. It gives drums the swooshing cymbal effect, etc. Emerick also used the 660 on guitars, often with little to no gain reduction, just for the niceness of the tubes. For bass and other instruments, it would often be a toss-up between using the Fairchild or the RS124.
Great insights, thanks!
